He had earned an insurance incentive, so he took the difference it would cover for a year and built his first trailer out of the back of his house. 

He put it up for sale and started the next one. Innovation and constant improvement have always been his core values. He spent countless hours working on ideas and speaking with companies and trailer owners. Through the process, he learned what worked and was able to refine his product.

Jed worked out of the back of his house for about a year and a half before growing into the current facility (although we only rented 1/4 of it at the time). The company soon expanded into building custom window well covers, which are well known in the Salt Lake City area for their sharp appearance, strength, and durability.

It all started in Jed’s backyard.

Today, Diamondback Manufacturing is an industry leader in manufacturing custom window well covers and custom trailers and parts. We currently have a staff of eleven and operate out of a 16,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Payson, Utah. 

It’s hard to believe that it all started in the backyard of our founder, Jed. 

Jed was working for a local company that built truck boxes. It was purchased by a larger company, and in 2003, his division was shut down. 

Jed recalls, “When they closed down our division, they informed us that we were in a 2-5 year industry, meaning that we would be looking for jobs every 2 to 5 years. I thought, ‘I’m not doing that!’”

Through the years, our reputation has continued to grow. We purchased several other companies and moved a few times. Ultimately, we ended up right back where we started (the manufacturing facility — not Jed’s backyard!).
